4 Mindset Shifts to Help You Get Out of Your Own Way & Smash Your Business Goals

Sorry to say, that it doesn't matter how good you are at what you do or your marketing…

If your mindset is off - you are already on an uphill battle.

I've come to realise that mindset is 99% of whether you succeed or sink in your home business and for most of us, we will all come across mindset stuff that stands in our own way and keeps us stuck.

It can be super frustrating when you know something is off, but maybe you can’t put your finger on it because you’re not aware of what’s going on upstairs!

In this episode, I’m going to cover 4 common questions we ask ourselves or say that will keep you in your own way and unable to break through how you’d like.

You’re totally normal if you ask these things or say them to yourself or others - so don’t feel bad. It’s human nature but there’s a key to getting them out of your mind.

You’ll learn 4 mindset shifts to help you smash your goals and crush it in your business this year and beyond!

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW - 4 MINDSET SHIFTS TO GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY AND SMASH YOUR BUSINESS GOALS

Or if you’d rather skip the video and read instead, I’ve got you covered and you can read below.

So what are these 4 questions I speak of?!

I’m sure you’re wondering so let’s dive in and ask yourself if you’ve ever said these to yourself or to someone else and when you have the awareness, it makes it much easier to make the shifts.

Let’s go!

1. I’m not as good as...

Have you ever compared yourself to someone else?

Don’t pretend you haven't… We all do it at some point in our business journey!

It might be someone you look up to in your industry - some kind of guru, influencer, a leader, someone further along that you.

You look at them and think, ‘Man, I’ll never be as good as they are at (fill in the blank)”

"I can’t see how I’ll be as good as them"

Maybe they are awesome at videos.

Or they’re great at creating super curious and engaging social media posts.

What about they seem to make sales with barely breaking a sweat?

Whatever it is you admire about that person, just know that they are where they are. And you are where you are.

Let me explain…

Firstly, you are not them. You are you. They are them.

That’s ok, we are all different.

One thing that I’ve learned recently is that this all comes from a place of not feeling good enough.

Whether this be not feeling smart enough. Not feeling confident enough, beautiful enough, good enough.

This is one of the biggest causes of any mindset issue - the root cause of it is this feeling.

You are not alone in feeling this way, or maybe you’re not even aware of it right now, which is ok too.

I want you to know that you are enough and how can you make the mindset shift to start with.

Have you ever heard the following quote?

“Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle, or your middle to someone else's end. Don't compare the start of your second quarter of life to someone else's third quarter.” Tim Hiller, Strive: Life is Short, Pursue What Matters

You might be a few months into your business journey.

Or maybe you’ve been doing things offline and now you’re starting to give this online shiz a whirl.

You’re new to it.

The person you may be looking up to, maybe have been doing this for years, or even just a bit further ahead of you.

We ALL started out as a beginner at some point.

They might have just been doing this longer than you have. That doesn’t mean to say you won’t be as great, if. Not better than they are when you have been doing it longer and got more experience and confidence.

I had no idea how to do Facebook marketing a few years ago.

I’ve never run paid ad in my life until 4 years ago and now I teach and review hundreds of students Facebook ads each month.

But in the beginning, I was shit scared, unconfident and scared of making mistakes and probably a bit rubbish.

My first blog posts were pretty pants.

Now I’m much better at writing and enjoy it.

We have to trust the process we’re on and know that you are where you are but tomorrow you will already be further ahead.

You are you and you are on this journey of learning and developing new skills sets.

You will get better.

2. My niche is saturated

Have you ever seen so many Facebook ads, or posts, people in the industry you’re in and thought “Wow there’s just so many other __________ (fill in the blank industry person e.g. health coaches, network marketing trainers, mindset coaches, beauty influencers), how will I ever get seen?”

This question comes up so often.

As I mentioned just now, there is only one of YOU.

You have a voice and you have your own experience.

This is what will make you unique and what will make people connect to you.

You and I might be talking about the same topic, but someone might relate to you and your voice, more than they do me.

We are all different and different people are attracted and drawn to those differences…

Meaning you will attract the people who love for you who you are and will see YOU as someone who’s further ahead than they are and being that same place you were.

Also, think about your own habits.

Who do you follow for tips and advice on a particular topic?

Do you have 1 person you mostly go to for one thing?

Or do you pay attention to lots?

The reality is that a lot people have a main go to person.

For example, I’m loving Mrs Hinch right now for my homely organising and cleaning tips as I embark on moving house.

I’m so excited to buy lots of baskets and “Hinch” my house.

She’s my go to person because she gives great advice, but also because she’s so authentic and genuine, and I enjoy watching her on Instagram.

I follow a person on Youtube who I came across for my Yoga for beginners.

What I’m trying to say is that YOU can be that one person someone follows.

Even if you’re new or just getting going.

By being yourself and sharing your own thoughts and having your voice - people will connect and relate to you for you just being you.

That’s where the beauty of attraction marketing and having a Be You Business comes in!

We want you to have customers and clients with people who are you for exactly who you are!

So don’t worry about how many other fitness coaches, beauty babes, yoga teachers, business coaches there are out there and just be yourself!

3. What if I Fail?

Another great quote I love

What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?

This is such a good reminder to have for yourself.

Failure can be such a scary word to some.

The feeling of failure is horrible and many, including myself, used to be fearful of failure as they didn’t want to feel like that again.

One thing I learned from someone a few years ago that really helped change how I looked at that word and what it meant was…

Failure is not something to be scared of or fearful of.

Failure is just feedback and learnings.

“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” - Denis Waitley

Change the meaning you have associated with the word ‘failure’ and look at it at a learning curve instead.

For example, if you’re running Facebook Ads and they didn’t work how you were expecting and maybe your metrics tanked…

What can you take from it?

You didn’t FAIL at Facebook ads, you just learned something that didn’t work.

Now it’s a case of evaluating it and trying something else and reevaluating to see if the numbers get better.

Marketing is huge lesson, constantly.

Trial and error and testing different headlines, posts, images, you name it - marketing is one giant test.

When I changed this meaning it really helped me personally to not be so scared of failing and look for the learning in the scenario and grow from it.

An easy mindset shift to language shift can be the words and terminology you use to yourself.

For instance, if you say you are going to TRY to do something.

I’m going to try to lose 2lbs this week.

I’m going to try to do some exercise this week

I’m going to try to do a Facebook live this week.

STOP as soon as you hear yourself say the word TRY and change it to I WILL.

I catch myself all the time saying try and I quickly say “No,, I won’t try, I WILL do …”

It’s a great way of commanding your brain to committing to something and actually doing it.

Even better...

...tell someone else you’re going to do it, that works a treat if you’re a procrastinator like I can be!

The word TRY gives your brain a reason to doubt or back out so scrap the word and use WILL or I AM instead.

I hope that helps with how to look at failure.

Without even trying to do something, you are guaranteeing failure because you give up.

4. I don’t have enough...

Ever said to yourself, “I can’t do that I don’t have enough money.” Or "I can’t invest in the mentoring for my business because I don’t have enough money.”

“I don’t have enough results for someone to listen to me”

This kind of talk is in a LACK mentality which can be detrimental to you and your results.

Instead of focusing on what you DON’T have - swap it to coming from a place of abundance and what you HAVE or WANT.

Change to a mentality of gratitude and thankfulness even if something hasn’t materialised yet. Your mind will see it as yours and manifest itself.

What might you say to yourself?

“Thank you for my 10 customers this month, I’m so grateful to have helped 10 new people solve a problem which makes me feel great”

“I’m so happy and grateful to have 3 new clients this month tho are so coachable and ready to take action with me, it’s a joy to work with them”

How good does saying that feel?

As opposed to “I wish I had more money or new customers in my business, I never have enough people to buy my products/services”

This simple shift can transform how you feel about yourself and your business, but also, it will rub off on others and be that ripple effect.

A tip I can give you which I do is I write down my “Thanking” statements on a post it note and put them on the bottom of my computer monitor so I see them everyday whilst I’m sat at my computer.

You could put them on your bathroom mirror.

Around the house.

On the wall in your offer.

Wherever you want to so it’s a constant reminder and message to look at and go into your mind.

You will then be so amazed when things start to take shape and all because you created it!

This is all law of attraction stuff which I love so if you haven’t read or watched The Secret - definitely do.

But it’s not just mindset that makes this stuff happen, from the constant messaging and seeing things infant of you, it also makes you more likely to take ACTION on moving towards those things which is where the magic happens!

Do what method works for you - I’ve started utilising my reminders in my phone too so it pops up with a daily reminder with a statement I wrote.

Have some fun with it and it’s something you can do with the whole family, kids will love it too!

I hope you can see how these 4 mindset shifts can help you get out of your own way and move towards smashing your business goals and being much more positive and happy as you do it.
